Your guide and driver collect you from your Chengdu accommodation and embark on a scenic 1–1.5 hour drive to Dujiangyan Panda Base.
09:00–09:20 Orientation & Safety Briefing
Upon arrival (opening hours 8:30–16:30), sign safety waivers, don panda‑base work attire and gloves, and receive a rundown of protocols from experienced keepers.
09:20–11:30 Keeper Duties & Yard Visits
Enclosure Maintenance: Clean panda yards, collect droppings, and wash fencing.
Bamboo Preparation: Carry, split, and wash bamboo shoots for feeding.
Behavioral Observation: Record activity patterns and learn panda habits from your guide.
Feeding Session: Watch keepers feed the pandas up close under supervision.
11:30–12:50 Lunch & Rest
Enjoy a buffet‑style lunch with staff and fellow volunteers in the base’s canteen. Take a short break before afternoon sessions.
12:50–13:50 Panda Documentary Screening
Gain deeper insight into panda conservation through an educational film showcasing breeding, rehabilitation, and habitat protection efforts.
13:50–14:30 Panda Nutritionist Workshop
Learn to make Wowotou (steamed corn bread cakes) and other dietary supplements for captive pandas—and understand the differences between wild and managed panda diets.
14:30–15:00 Special Care for Senior Pandas
Assist keepers by cutting fresh bamboo leaves for elderly or recuperating pandas in the “nursing” section of the base.
15:00–15:30 Certificate Ceremony & Free Exploration
Receive your official Panda Loving Care certificate and optional keepsakes, then enjoy free time to revisit your favorite panda enclosures until departure.
After 3:30 PM Return to Chengdu
Your guide escorts you back to your hotel or onward transportation. (For stress‑free planning, book flights after 7 PM or trains after 6 PM.)
