Tangmai Natural Barrier → Guxiang Lake → Bomi Peach Blossom Gully
In the morning, depart and pass through the Tangmai Natural Barrier, then arrive at Guxiang Lake. Guxiang Lake is located in Guxiang Ancient Village, 33 kilometers from Bomi County and 210 kilometers from Nyingchi. The lake sits at an altitude of 2,600 meters, stretching 5 kilometers in length, 2 kilometers at its widest point, and over 20 meters at its deepest, covering an area of 20,000 square meters. It is a freshwater barrier lake with a small island in the middle, measuring over 1,000 square meters. Located along National Highway 318, the lake is easily accessible and serves as a natural park.
The lake was formed in 1953 when the “Xionglu Geini” glacier on the back mountain of Guxiang triggered a massive mudslide called “Kagong Numba,” which blocked the Palongzangbu River. Guxiang Lake, also known as Bomi Peach Blossom Valley in Nyingchi, Tibet, has been selected as one of the “100 Most Beautiful Scenic Photography Spots in Tibet” by China National Geographic.

Laigu Glacier / Midui Glacier → Ranwu Lake (If Laigu Glacier is closed, visit Midui Glacier instead)
From Ranwu Town to Lhagu Village, the route follows the shore of Ranwu Lake, often called the “Western Heaven’s Jade Pool.” The lake’s clear waters reflect the blue sky and white clouds, while the surrounding shrubs create vivid, colorful landscapes that look like a painting. Laigu Village is surrounded by multiple glaciers, which form several glacial lakes in front of the village. Each lake reflects a slightly different color due to variations in the glacier’s geology and soil. On one of the lakes, you can even see icebergs of various sizes floating, giving a feeling almost like being in Antarctica.
An alternative site is Midui Glacier, located in Yubu Township, Bomi County. About 103 kilometers from Bomi town and 8 kilometers from National Highway 318, the glacier’s main peak reaches 6,800 meters, with a snow line at 4,600 meters. The ice glistens year-round, forming an enchanting and ever-changing landscape. The glacier is surrounded by mixed coniferous and broadleaf forests, with snow that never melts and greenery that stays vibrant in all seasons. Due to the relatively warm glacier surface, ice worms, ice fleas, and other microorganisms live here throughout the year. Interestingly, although Midui Glacier is at 29°N latitude, its terminus is colder than many glaciers around 44°N, making it unique among modern glaciers in China.
Ranwu Lake (Tibetan: Ranwu Co) is located in the southwest of Baxoi County, Chamdo Prefecture, about 90 kilometers from Baima Town. It was formed by landslides or mudflows blocking the river, creating a natural barrier lake. Its proximity to the Sichuan-Tibet Highway makes it a well-known stop for travelers along this scenic route.

Galang Lake → Lulang Forest Observatory → Lulang International Tourist Town
Galang Lake is located northwest of Bomi County, near Runa and Galang villages along National Highway 318, about 1.7 kilometers off the highway, 17 kilometers from Bomi town, and 228 kilometers from Bayi Town. From Kadajupan Mountain, it’s just a 4-kilometer drive through Galang Village. Covering over 15,000 square meters, the lake is surrounded by bare green mountains and ancient trees, with beautiful natural scenery and distinctive local architecture. It is also home to the historical site of the famous Galang Dynasty and descendants of the Galang kings, making it a top choice for tourism development.
Lulang Forest (Tibetan: “Dragon King Valley”) is located in Lulang Town, Nyingchi County, in the region often called the “Switzerland of Tibet.” About 80 kilometers from Bayi along the southern route of National Highway 318, it sits in a deep forest valley influenced by moisture from the Indian Ocean, at an altitude of 2,700–4,200 meters, enjoying a warm, semi-humid plateau climate. Known as the “Jiangnan of Tibet,” Lulang Forest offers poetic scenery with snow-capped peaks, dense forests, and neatly arranged meadows. Winding streams and thousands of blooming wildflowers make it feel like a paradise on Earth.
The Lulang International Tourism Town, designed by Professor Chen Keshi, emphasizes “purity and tranquility,” aiming to create a serene, Tibetan-style poetic town and an international tourist destination.

In Tibetan, its name means “Jade Lake.” After descending the mountain, get close to the lake and enjoy the stunning view where the turquoise water merges with the distant snow-capped peaks. Along the way, you’ll see colorful mountains, unique Tibetan villages, and herds of yaks and sheep, creating a peaceful and breathtaking journey.
In the afternoon, visit Yuthok Monastery, known as the “world’s loneliest monastery.” The name Yuthok means “Stone on the Mountain.” It is the only building on this peninsula—a single monastery, a single monk, and a single lifetime—standing quietly for over 700 years. Through changing seasons, sunrises, and sunsets, the monk remains devoted to his practice, turning solitude into a way of life. That’s why it is often called the most solitary monastery in the world.
