Welcome to Yichang! Upon your arrival, you can take advantage of the cruise company’s complimentary shuttle service from either Yichang Three Gorges Center Cruise Terminal or Yichang East Railway Station to reach Maoping Port for embarkation. The boarding period is from 19:00 to 20:00.
Yichang is commonly called the “Gateway to the Three Gorges” due to its proximity to the famous Three Gorges Dam, one of the largest and most significant hydroelectric dams in the world. You will spend your free time today enjoying the Yangtze River Cruise, allowing you to discover Asia’s longest river and the essence of China. There are numerous cultural activities and entertainment options available for you to participate in, including the Yangtze River History and Culture Lecture, the Captain’s Welcome Party, a shore excursion, and incredible evening performances, among others.
The main highlight for today is China’s largest hydropower project – the Three Gorges Dam. Seize the opportunity to see the dam and its lock system. The dam’s structure is colossal, standing at 181 meters tall, stretching 2,335 meters across the Yangtze River, and 115 meters wide.

Yangtze River Cruise: Exploring the Three Gorges & Shennv Stream
Today, you will experience a full day of exploring the stunning Three Gorges. First, you will navigate through Xiling Gorge, renowned for its rugged shallows and turbulent waters. Next, you will pass through Wuxia Gorge, which is tranquil and isolated, offering a breathtaking view of its beautiful landscape. Then, you will travel through Qutang Gorge, famous for its extraordinary, unique, and steep scenery recognized worldwide. Listen to the guide’s live commentary, and you will be amazed by the remarkable sights from the boat.
You should take a relaxing shore excursion to Shennv Stream (Goddess Stream) in Wushan County. Switch to a smaller vessel to navigate the untouched stream for a closer look at the towering mountains and hanging coffins perched on the cliffs. If you are interested, you can join a local Tujia ethnic guide for a performance of singing and dancing.

On this day, your cruise will glide smoothly along the Yangtze River. Take your time waking up and savor the stunning river scenery, whether it’s enveloped in mist or illuminated by gentle sunlight. Enjoy a buffet breakfast to kick off your lovely day. The cruise has planned various activities for you, including shore excursions to explore traditional Chinese cultural landmarks or simply relaxing on board while learning about Chinese culture.
This morning, you will join a local English-speaking tour guide for a shore excursion to Fengdu Ghost City. This ghost city is a vast collection of temples, memorials, and monasteries where you can learn many legendary tales about the underworld, various devils, and Chinese demons. Alternatively, you may opt for an excursion to Shibaozhai Pagoda for an additional fee, recognized as one of the world’s eight extraordinary architectural marvels located in Zhongxian County. Climb the 12-story red wooden pagoda for a breathtaking view of the Yangtze River. In the evening, partake in the Captain’s Farewell Party and enjoy a delightful dinner.
