Arrival in Chengdu
Welcome to Chengdu! Your guide will meet you at the airport (outside baggage claim) and transfer you to a centrally located hotel near Chunxi Road by private car. The rest of the day is free to rest or explore nearby streets and malls. Chunxi Road is Chengdu’s busiest shopping district with luxury malls, local snack stalls and restaurants. A popular photo landmark inside the IFS mall is the large “Climbing Giant Panda” sculpture.

Chengdu City Highlights Tour: Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding – Wide and Narrow Alley – Jinsha Site Museum – People’s Park
Morning: Visit the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding for a close, early-morning encounter with pandas when they are most active (feeding, playing, climbing). The Base houses a large population of captive giant pandas and is also a conservation and education centre — visiting early helps avoid crowds.
Late morning: Stroll through the historic Wide and Narrow Alley – three parallel alleys restored into shops, tea houses and small performance venues; a great place to sample local snacks, watch Sichuan opera snippets and see the local café/bar scene.
Afternoon: Explore the Jinsha Site Museum to see relics of the ancient Shu culture, including the famous gold “sun-bird” ornament and other exquisite finds dating back more than 3,000 years. The museum offers archaeological context and an easy walk-through exhibition.
Late afternoon: Relax at People’s Park to experience Chengdu’s slow-paced city life — sip tea in a lakeside teahouse, watch locals play mahjong or practice tai chi, and see the matchmaking corner where parents post profiles for potential matches.

Chengdu → Huanglong → Jiuzhaigou
After breakfast transfer to Chengdu railway station for a high-speed train (approx. 2 hours) to Huanglong Jiuzhai Railway Station. Local guide meets you at the station and transfers you to Huanglong National Scenic Reserve (30–40 min drive). Huanglong is famous for its terraced travertine pools (multi-colored ponds), snow-capped peaks, forests, waterfalls and hot springs. You’ll use the cable car to reach the main travertine terraces and visit the highest, most colorful ponds. There is also Huanglong Monastery (a Ming-era temple) within the area for a short rest. After touring Huanglong, transfer to Jiuzhaigou for an overnight stay.

Full day: Jiuzhaigou Valley National Park
Spend a full day in Jiuzhaigou Valley National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage park renowned for its crystal lakes, dense virgin forests, multi-level waterfalls and alpine scenery. The valley stretches about 35 km and sits at roughly 2,500 m elevation. Key highlights include the park’s colorful ponds and lakes (small-scale “Five-Color Pond”), Nuorilang Falls (one of the valley’s most spectacular waterfalls), Long Lake (a long S-shaped alpine lake), and Pearl Shoal Falls (wide cascades that scatter water like pearls). Your private guide will plan the visit order to make the most of crowd and light conditions. Tip: bring snacks and a hearty hotel breakfast – onsite food options are limited and often crowded.

Departure from Jiuzhaigou
Transfer to Jiuzhaigou (Jiuzhai Huanglong) Airport or Jiuzhaigou railway station for onward travel. Note: direct flights from Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport are limited (commonly to Chengdu, Beijing, Hangzhou); you may need a connecting flight to return home — we can assist with ticketing upon request (additional cost).
